Tarantelli's
About This Spot
Stepping into Tarantelli’s in downtown Wilmington is like drifting into a warmly lit Italian kitchen where the pace invites you to settle in and savor the moment. The buzz of conversations, the subtle clink of glasses, and the aroma of garlic and simmering tomato sauces create an atmosphere that feels both inviting and familiar. Here, the feeling is unhurried, a gentle balance between lively gathering and intimate dinner.
This neighborhood gem carries a comforting rhythm that makes it easy to relax—whether you’re perched at the bar waiting to be seated or settled at a cozy corner table. The staff greet guests with a genuine warmth that lingers throughout the evening, making celebrations feel personal and casual nights feel special. It’s a place where you can lean back with a perfectly stirred espresso martini or a refreshing watermelon mojito, letting time stretch as the city’s energy hums just outside the door.
Food at Tarantelli’s feels like an unspoken invitation to share and savor. The kitchen's commitment to classic Italian is evident, but what’s truly memorable is the way familiar dishes arrive with thoughtful touches—whether it’s the rich creaminess of a cheese wheel-tossed pasta or the bright, unexpected notes found in their seafood offerings. Meals unfold with a rhythm that feels natural: a basket of warm garlic knots to start, a plate of homemade pappardelle dressed in a broth scented with fresh basil and garlic, and maybe a slice of lasagne gently bubbling with layers of comfort and tradition.
Evenings here often stretch into moments of laughter and quiet exchanges over a shared plate of bruschetta or a creamy scoop of gelato to close. The mood remains approachable, making it an easy choice for marking anniversaries, birthday dinners, or simply the treat of a spontaneous night out. Tarantelli’s quietly builds its character through simple yet thoughtful hospitality—moments where the genuine care from the service team enhances an already soulful meal.
For anyone drawn to authentic flavors and spaces that encourage connection, this spot offers more than a meal; it offers a shared experience—a kind of quiet celebration of life’s everyday occasions that leave you feeling seen and satisfied, with the comforting notion you’ll come back again.

The bruschetta bread was stale and had no flavor, zero basil and instead used parsley. Our reservation had a 20-minute wait despite being told otherwise. I noted my friend’s birthday on the reservation, but there was no acknowledgment. The pasta was just okay—lacking salt and flavor—added with the cheese wheel experience was underwhelming. The limoncello was served at room temperature instead of chilled. Salads were decent, but overall, for the price and lack of flavor, I’d give this place a low four stars. Not somewhere I’d visit regularly, hoping for improvement before a second visit.

I've heard a lot of good things about this place so we decided to try it for my wife's birthday. We were not disappointed. The Spaghetti Al Formaggio Parmigiana was excellent. Our waitress, Katy, was excellent. This place gets busy, so be sure to get a reservation.

We went here to celebrate our six-year wedding anniversary, and everything was perfect! The food was absolutely delicious, the drinks were great, and the service was fantastic from start to finish. The staff made us feel so welcome, and we had such a wonderful time. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Amazing restaurant with spectacular staff! Chicken parm is one of best I've had anywhere (including Philly, NYC, and Boston). Staff was over the top helpful and friendly. Food arrived promptly. Easily one of the best dinners I've had in Wilmington. Will 1000% be visiting frequently.

Was in town on vacation and was in the mood for some good pasta. Mission Accomplished! From the moment we walked in, the experience was one that’ll bring me back. The warm and friendly greeting I got upon entering is what I immediately liked about Tarantelli’s. Had about a 15-20 minute wait, so my party of 3 decided to relax at the bar until our table was ready. The bartender was quick with it and patient. I ordered the Limoncello Martini and was smooth flavorful. I had to order another one once I got to the table. And speaking of getting to the table, we didn’t even have to wait the entire 15-20.. it was more like 10. Talk about a win! The Papperdalle Funghi was good. The portion size was really good. #yum And it came out piping hot! Our waiter was super cool and understanding when it came to dealing with all our questions. Wish I could remember his name.. kudos to him. I heard someone in line before us at check-in say, “See… this is why I don’t come here.” And no, I couldn’t see it. Tarantelli’s did everything right!!! The next time I’m in Wilmington, I’ll have no choice but to be back for another amazing visit. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!!

Everything we had was amazing. Their signature cheese wheel pasta was definitely a standout and highlight, though the fish, scallops and risotto were good too. The tiramisu was some of the best I have ever had which is quite a feels as I order it anywhere that offers it. 10/10 experience, pricey but worth every penny. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a fun upscale place to eat.

During our week in Myrtle Beach, we made the hour and 20-minute drive to Tarantelli's after a friend's recommendation, and it was worth every minute! For our appetizer, we chose the wagyu bruschetta, which was nothing short of extraordinary—tender and bursting with flavor! For main courses, we had the penne alla vodka and the beef braciole, both were exceptional. You can really tell that everything is made from scratch and cooked to order. We ended our meal with the olive oil lemon cake, a delightful conclusion to a fantastic dining experience. The service was remarkable, and this restaurant truly exceeded our expectations!

This is a pretty outstanding restaurant. I came with a party of 9 including two kids. Waiter was great with the children and new the menu and answers to any questions we had. It was just a little too dark for me in the corner we were in. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Waiter was very attentive and personable. Def an awesome place for a great meal.
